Vigoda’s acting career started with the American Theatre Wing during his teens. He struggled as an actor before landing his big break in the 1972 film, The Godfather. He played the role of mobster “Salvatore ‘Sal’ Tessio”. The film was a major success and the sequel was released in 1974. Vigoda gained further recognition with his role as “Phil Fish” on the ABC sitcom ‘Barney Miller’. He became the subject of numerous death hoaxes during the 1980s. His recent work include voice acting for the 2007 film ‘Farce of the Penguins’.
