Karan Johar via his Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga's Sikhya Entertainment have announced a content partnership. The two productions will join forces for a slate of movies.The production houses will reportedly work on multiple projects including feature films and digital formats. Currently, there are no projects or titles confirmed. However, we can expect announcements in two or three months.
While Dharma Productions is a leading production house that has backed mainstream Bollywood movies for decades, Sikhya Entertainment is known for its independent films. Guneet Monga is fresh off the success of The Elephant Whisperers, which she produced, at the Oscars. The documentary short directed by Kartiki Gonsalves was the first title from an Indian production to win an Academy Award.
Karan Johar and Guneet Monga have collaborated in the past for The Lunchbox. Starring the late Irrfan Khan and Nimrat Kaur, the film won much critical and fan acclaim.
