Wikipedia: The Text Adventure adapts the online encyclopedia into the form of a classical text adventure. Geographical locations described in Wikipedia are turned into 'rooms', between which the player can move by typing compass directions. Thus it is possible e.g. to go to the Statue of Liberty, go southwest to the American Museum of Immigration, and from there southeast to Liberty Island. The connections between the rooms are decided basing on geographical coordinates listed in their Wiki articles. The room descriptions are provided by lead paragraphs of the articles. Photos from Wikipedia are turned into low-res, 8-bit pixelated versions to provide the room illustrations.
Like in a typical text adventure, the player can "examine" various objects to gain a closer description, "talk to" people whose names happen to be mentioned (returning quotes from their Wikipedia articles), or "take" various items - usually with somewhat nonsensical results.
Additional commands include "focus", which shows the original hi-res version of a photo, and "wiki" and "edit" which directly link the player to the original Wikipedia article.
